Free RATs

LCSA welcomes the announcement from the NSW Government to provide free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to vulnerable communities as COVID cases continue to surge this winter.

The NSW Government will distribute boxes of free RAT kits to 210 Neighbourhood & Community Centres across the state (including most of LCSA’s members), after the Federal Government’s program finishes up at the end of the month. Currently, concession card holders can access up to 10 free RATs under the Federal Government’s Concessional Access Program which ends on 30th July 2022.

In a media release by NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet it was announced that “We are making sure those people who need it most get the help they need to help keep themselves and the community safe through winter by stepping in and providing free Rapid Antigen Tests,” Mr Perrottet said.

LCSA was asked by the NSW Government to assist with utilising the network of 210 Neighbourhood and Community Centres located across the state as part of the distribution process of getting the free RATs to communities that need it most. The tests will be available at the designated Centres to eligible concession card holders.
