In 2021, LCSA hosted the biennial conference of the International Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers (IFS). IFS is a global movement of more than 11, 000 community-based member organisations from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America.
Originally scheduled to be held in Sydney as an in-person event in 2020, COVID-19 and the subsequent international and interstate travel bans meant the conference had to be postponed until the following year and shifted to a completely online event.
The conference theme of "Social Justice: The Unfinished Journey, Global Issues – Local Solutions" was explored by over 100 guest speakers, panelists and presenters over 4 days, covering multiple timezones to cater for a global audience of 312 attendees.
