Race, Equity & Cultural Humility in Your Work

Dominique Day
This 2 hour workshop for LCSA members will explore how we can tackle issues of racial equity and institutional racism.

Tuesday, 28 June 2022
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

“Be Brave. Make Change.” is the challenge given to us as we celebrate this year’s Reconciliation Week.

The Reconciliation Australia website proclaims:

'The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change.” is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.'

As we are entering a new era of more diversity and equity in the Australian parliament than ever before, our efforts to tackle issues relating to racial equity and institutional racism and our commitment to walk alongside our First Nations leaders and communities in the pursuit of community-led change may indeed have more traction under new political leadership.

  • What can our sector do to support the change we want to see?
  • How can we tackle racial equity and institutional racism issues?
  • What is the status quo on these issues in your community and in your organisation and what needs to change?

On 28 June 2022, we are hosting a special online workshop on the topic of Racial Equity and warmly invite all LCSA members to attend. The workshop will be led by Dominique Day, who many of you will know from her keynote address at last year's IFS Conference where she shared her passion for racial justice, non-discrimination, and human rights advocacy.
